For someone who just started a couple of months ago. Finally had my best run around 27-minutes today, but still seems like a struggle to make progress.

9 minutes/mile is a comfortable pace. I take it you were mostly jogging with the occasional run but never a full on sprint.
Edit: And yes, making progress is so much tougher than it sounds. Youll find that taking off 2 minutes permanently from your current time will take months. --- Chicago, greatest city in the world! ... Copied to Clipboard!

I'd be impressed if you could complete 3 miles in anything under 24 minutes, so 8 min a mile average.
