I fail to see how its a waste of money.

I work out in the park, the park I go to has a couple of pull up bars and a few basketball courts.
That's all you really need to get fit.

It's not a make or break thing if you get enough activity in your line of work, but for those behind desk yeah you need to do something. At my peak I could go 6 miles in 1 hour before it shut off automatically, I could go close to 50 or a little above it on a bike. Before I stopped I was more of an elevation guy so I'd jack the treadmill up to the max and put it on 4 mph and I would see how high I climbed. It was about 3000 feet and I'd be drenched in sweat.

You dont need to lift weights. You can use the cardio area and take advantage of steam baths and saunas

I work out at home, fuck going to the gym. Not only is it expensive, but you have to try to avoid everyone's sweat and wait for jackasses who hog equipment and weights. I have adjustable dumbbells up to 100 lbs and a bench at home, so I'm set. Only thing I'd go to a gym for is to perv on hot girls.

I know what you mean. I am still an elevation guy. I get sweat dripping off of my eyelids. Its a great feeling

Not everyone can work out at home. Its very easy to get distracted. When you go to the gym, its much easier to stay on track because there isnt anything else to do there.

I got super fat (307 at 6'1").
Well my wife decided she wanted a divorce back in january so i joined a gym back in March and started going a couple days a week.

Got down to about 270 pretty fast, just running on an elliptical for 20 to 30 min and using machines to lift some weights.

Im now down to 227, i go 5 days a week and run 45 minutes a day and hit the weights hard. I feel great, and if my lazy ass can do it anyone can.

I agree with the bodybuilding culture. But thats not what this topic is about. The goal is to get active and live a healthier life style. Nevermind the douchebags at the gym.
