I'm not American, so I don't know a lot about American politics. I keep seeing people on my social media talking about a vote that is happening in November, and how important it is.

I'm just curious to know what the vote is about, and what the possible outcomes could be.

Midterms. If Dems gain control of house and senate it will make it harder for Trump and the repubs to fuck the middle class.

Essentially the entire House, a third of all Senators, and a bunch of state Governors are up for election

The Democrats are the favorites to win the House of Representatives as well as a vast majority of the Governor races

The Republicans have a good chance of holding on to the Senate simply because of the which states are up for election (Democrats are defending a lot of seats in states the GOP won in 2016)

The House of reps serve two year terms so they're up for reelection this year. US Senators serve 6 year terms but there's always one third of the sitting senators that are up for reelection and given two year cycle.
