Some context here.

I had a girlfriend in highschool, only person I've actually cared about. We broke up during the last year of highschool, heard about her getting married and having a kid years later with one of my highschool best friends (I know, right?).

Recently I found out from him that he had broken up with her, dude's kind of a lunatic, always was, and he currently has another girl pregnant.

Anyways, she contacted me through facebook, asked me about me and what I've been up to. She never mentioned being single and I didn't ask. All of a sudden, she told me we should meet up for a drink at her house.

Now here's the dilemma... Life's good, I don't have anything to spoil my happiness at the moment, I enjoy being single and fooling around. I do fear, however, feelings will start coming up and I might do something stupid. I do still care for her, after over 10 years.

She's still as gorgeous as she was back then, I think even more cause she grew amazing tits judging from her facebook photos. On the other hand, she has an 8 year old kid, and boy do I suck at interacting with children, they just annoy me.

What do I do?

How long ago was the breakup between her and he ex? If it was fairly recent, then you are more than likely the rebound. Rebound relationships never turn out well.

Plus, she has a kid. Run away. Run far away.

She didn't actually hurt me, we broke up on friendly terms. She was moving to another city to study after graduating and I wasn't. That's the reason I still care about her, we never had an issue.

Can't you ever not say something dumb

I'm not one that's necessarily against dating a girl with a kid or 2 but having dating preferences doesn't make you a bad person. Not everyone wants kids

No point to not go out for drinks. Doesn't mean you have to date or anything. The only reason I would date an ex is if we broke up because of distance, like moving away. So, if you want to date, it probably wouldn't be bad. Depending on the timing, you could be a rebound, but that's ok as long as you know. And if you do decide to date, you'll probably get use to the kid... maybe... But just take it one step at a time and just go out for drinks and enjoy yourself.

I don't think that's right. You don't have to date a single mother if you don't want to, but it's not desperate to date one. At a certain age, there will be a good amount more women that have a child from a previous relationship...
