Firstly, because that'd essentially be admitting guilt.
Secondly, because that'd require him to be found guilty first, which hasn't happened.
Thirdly, because if he did get found guilty, by that time his nomination would have long since been determined so the pardon wouldn't change much - and if it was a rejection, the seat would likely have been filled by someone else.
And finally, because you touch yourself at night.

The idea that accepting a pardon serves as an admission of guilt is a misconception. The Supreme Court ruling that is usually cited allows for someone to reject a pardon, in that specific case because the pardon was granted in an attempt to compel what would otherwise be self-incriminating testimony.

There also doesn't need to be a conviction to grant a pardon. Ford pardoned Nixon without even an indictment, and it was determined to be within his power to do so.

The serious answer for TC's question is this: it's a confirmation hearing, not a trial.
