I got a little Zojirushi one recently, and it does a great job of keeping the rice warm and soft long after it's done cooking. How long do you guys leave it warming in the cooker? I just ate some rice that was 50 hours old and I'm hoping I don't die

Just out in the open, or in a fridge? It's more or less fine unless it starts smelling, depends on how warm the kitchen is.

No like the rice cooker is plugged in and it's in 'keep warm' mode. It's basically sealed inside a heated metal thing

I normally turn off mine after its cooked, then periodically clear out water on lid when I walk by the kitchen. By then should have sub 24 hours before it goes bad. But as long as it doesn't smell it should be good. If you don't want it to go to waste, fridge then reheat. Someone told me mixing vinegar while cooking prolongs shelf life, haven't tried it yet nor did any research.
