Board 8 > Since we're on the topic of Dragon Quest XI (Spoilers thru first 20 hours or so)

I will be speaking freely in this topic up until where I am in the game, please do not speak of future plot points in detail, greatly appreciated.

3 gripes.

1) The blank face on the Luminary's face. Its like he's just a place holder in the game. There is no emotion, he's just dead behind the eyes. Its starting to wear on me.

2) First three villages i visited were all having Annual Events / Competitions. Two of these Three villages required me to find someone who has gone missing and in both cases they were future party members. It's been a lot of "This again?" moments.

3) Sylvando

Other than that, thoroughly enjoying every other aspect of the game up until this point. I think the last thing I did was kill a Tentacular so that I could help a mermaid kidnap a guy and drown him in the ocean so that the mermaid will then in return "safely" drown us so we can meet the queen. Totally what a darkspawn wouldn't do.

Note: this is only my second DQ game. I played No. VIII on the PS2 many years ago but never actually finished it.

Sylvando grew on me. I'm with you on the other two.

I do have one other major gripe and that is dealing with Jasper and Hendrick in cutscenes. Just let me fucking fight them.

The over the top "Honey" and "Darling" is killing me. when he talks normal and doesnt add that flair I'm ok.

Oh and when Vince is literally killing people and drinking their mojo and we just give him a pass because he was doing it for the kids. I mean, w.t.f.

Really miss the days of Suikoden V where the protagonist, despite being silent, was very emotive.

Between Sylvando and all the other village/town accents, I just wonder what kind of Japanese dialects they have or what they sound like untranslated.
