Either my standards are too high, or the average guy in heres standards are too low...

Thats not thicc, or even curvy. Its just plump.

The latter

I'm sorry yall like your women to have body types similar to teenage boys. must suck

Didnt realize it was a choice between teenage boys and a hippo

when you're calling the pic in the OP a hippo, yeah, its pretty good guess you're in the "over 130 = whale" camp.

It's ok. I went to college with a lot of dudes who thought anything above gymnast weight and proportion was grossly fat. Some dudes just prefer the petite, almost underage look

Dude this is mad silly

I'm a chubby chaser who finds her hot and she's most certainly fat

Not morbidly obese, but fat. Some people just aren't for fat chicks and that's okay

slightly overweight =/= hippo

when a dude starts using language like that to describe a girl of that size...yeah, it almost always leads back to what I described

Girl in the OP is quite a bit above 130. And sorry, implying people who dont like fat chicks are pedos is pretty damn motherfucking stupid

Wait, so you're saying it is the case that people who aren't into fat chicks are pedos?

That's a weird stance.

nah, just casually dismissing his argument. It's one thing to not be attracted to her. It's another thing entirely to use disparaging language to describe her. Guys who move like that tend to have unrealistic standards of beauty

I'm gay so no.

But I do notice that men care less about weight than women do. Men typically find overweight women attractive while that's usually a dealbreaker for women. It varies based on the individual of course.

HAES is bullshit just like communism, thanks for playing

I was talking about neither one in this case. I don't even know what HAES means

Health at every size, or the idiotic notion that weight has no relation to health

I never said it has no relation to health. I said it's not a good indicator of health. that is a fact.

Overall health? No, of course not. Someone in amazing physical condition could die of a heart attack tomorrow or of cancer in a year, sure. There's genetics for you.

However, It's actually a decent indication of physical and mental health. Lower risk for cardiovascular/ heart disease, Cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. Self esteem, confidence. I could go on all day.

also I think these conversations over weight being an indicator of health are interesting, weight itself is not a good indicator of overall health but if you include other measurements like waist size and body fat composition then you have a pretty good proxy for health

in this instance we don't have access to the persons actual numeric weight so that clearly isn't what everyone is talking about when they call her fat

how much of the "physical health" part is due to doctors falsely assuming that their health problems will go away if they lose weight?

how much of the "mental health" part is due to societal stigma?

okay well google is just confirming to me what I already knew, that BMI is a poor indicator of health but that waist circumference and overall body fat percentage are pretty good indicators

I know I'm not calling the person this topic is about fat because of the number the scale shows her, whatever that is, though so this seems like either a purposeful obfuscation or an unintentional one

what do you mean?

I mean that there has been a lot of relatively recent research into fat and health that has not actually found a significant correlation between them

one of many examples: people who are fat, then lose a bunch of weight, are not less prone to developing heart problems and diabetes than people who remain fat

I have seen that, but I think if you look at the actual study and not just the headline results, that isn't what it showed.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4238418/

Secondly, during the trial, patients received management of diabetes and cardiovascular risk factors in routine care, and their healthcare providers were not blinded to assigned groups. In the control group, use of potentially cardioprotective agents including metformin, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin-receptor blockers, beta-blockers, and statins was higher, potentially neutralising any effect of weight loss on cardiovascular outcomes. Finally, the weight loss difference between groups was only modest, partly because of regain in the intervention group but also due to the mean 3.5% body weight loss in the control group. However, a weight loss of this magnitude is not typical of routine care, and may have contributed to the lower than expected event rate in the control group.

So, the results didn't show that weight loss doesn't impact mortality rates or cardiac episodes, just that these two types of interventions aren't different in a statistically meaningful way. But that result is partially due to the fact that 'a correlation seemed to exist between weight loss and improvements in cardiovascular risk factors, with larger weight losses associated with greater benefits ' and the control group lost more weight than is typical in standard interventions
