I don't. People who say they are telling you when to laugh are also ridiculous. It's an obvious hold-over from stage plays (sort of like the classic camera set-up for sitcoms).

From one perspective I could understand them to keep someone for mistaking an emotional scene for a comedy scene and then laughing over it in background, but it's still kind of silly

If a joke is told and someone misses important dialogue, it's an issue. It's why performers at theaters generally pause for laughter. Even a good play without an audience comes off as awkward. ... I don't. I hate sitcoms without them. I never know when Im suppose to laugh and my friends yell at me cause they say I keep laughing before the joke lands. Then I get anxiety and it becomes even harder to find where to laugh so I just nervously laugh the whole time until eventually everyone leaves.
