80s rock is the peak of the genre imo, you got the new wavers, the post-punk guys, the hardcore dudes, hair metal, thrashers, all great stuff

It was a great balance of when the genre was still youthful and fun while gaining more and more sophistication and pushing boundaries

Besides Lorde I wouldnt say any of those are very mainstream these days. Theyre all fine but not really my thing either, a bit more arty than what Im looking for these days

To an extent.

The likes of Imagine Dragons, Coldplay, etc. still garner decent mainstream attention overall, but you can also speak more relatively. There are dedicated rock stations that are still quite popular for modern mainstream rock that often play music of bands who experienced their commercial peak 10-20 years ago, lots of awful nu metal, post-grunge, etc. like Nickelback and Korn are still mainstream relative to most rock bands, even if they arent as successful as they once were

Their first album came out in the early 2000s. Censored Colors was their start of their sound imo. The Satanic Satanist is where they really hit their stride.

That's just their single they made in 5 minutes supposedly. The rest of the album is alright. The rest of their discography is fucking amazing though.
