Damn son, that's awesome.

And also apparently makes PS4 have PS2 backward compatibility kinda-sorta?

So, it's basically PS Plus without the discounts.

No, it's basically Xbox Game Pass. With more games.

$10/month to gain access to 200+ PS4 and PS2 game downloads, plus streaming PS3 games (which sucks, don't do it)

Make it so you can download PS3 games on it and I might be back in.

I mean, it's useless if you let your Plus membership lapse.

The PS3 was too much of a clusterfuck in hardware design for the PS4 to emulate correctly.

This isn't PS+. It's an entirely different service.

I thought you needed Plus for Now.

Nah. I'm pretty sure $10 price is a sale deal going on though. It's usually 20

Then for now still no deal. I used Now for a little bit but the streaming made it a bitch. But come on just let me download RDR and the mass effect trilogy to my 4 and I'm done.

Oh shit, that's neat. I wasn't even considering PS Now cause my internet connection is data-capped and has fairly bad lag (the bandwidth is downright amazing for my location, but the latency is quite bad), but if I can download the games instead of having to stream them, I might reconsider...

Would be cool if they added the same for PS1 and PS3 games too. (I know PS4 can't play either - although I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for them to add PS1 support to it, given that 15-year-old PCs can emulate it well - but an actual PS3 can play both, and a Vita can play PS1)

You probably shouldn't bother then. The games you download need to do server checks every couple of days to see if you're subbed tp the service.

That's a good start. I think game streaming is too ahead of its time, not everybody has a strong enough internet connection to do it reliably. Letting you download and keep them like PS Plus is great.

That's no problem. A server check is going to be what, a couple of megabytes at most? (our cap is 120GB, and we only hit it because we make an effort to use up whatever's remaining (download some games from PSN or Steam or whatever) near the end of the cycle) And it doesn't have to be real-time like gameplay, so latency isn't an issue.

The connection isn't intermittent, slow (at least by local standards - it's about 15 megabit down 5 megabit up; average for the area is literally something like 0.5 both ways), or excessively capped. It's just a bit laggy and does have a cap.

lol no, when you can put your old discs into your PS4 and they play without you having to pay for them again you can call it backwards compatible, this is just them putting your games behind a paywall when the PS4 clearly has the capability to do what xbox does
