I dont understand this for the following reasons:

- No one makes you buy any game at full price, you can wait for a price drop. If you are worried about the trade value.

- If you decide to trade it in immediately after you beat it, why not rent it?

- I would prefer higher trade in rates, but I am thankful for not being stuck with games forever that I dont want.

They're q pretty sleazy place, but I use them to pick up cheap last gen games. That's about all they're good for.

sometimes they do have great promotions.

gonna trade in crash trilogy(which i'm buying used from another person) and god of war for spidey which drops the price down to like $2.

i would never buy anything from them though. i just know they'll put back crash into circulation with at least a 50% markup compared to the second hand price i paid for it. who knows what they'll do to GoW.

Seems to be mostly to be an extremely vocal online forum poster thing to me. The vast majority of people I talk to on a regular basis (like, off the internet/IRL) do not really give a shit one way or the other, or is just the type that prefers going to the store to pick up their own games in compared to buying online.

Personally, I find it convenient being able to quickly unload the flavor of the month AAA type of games to get either 30 or 25 back during their first month or two of release and either saving the credit or just moving on to the next "game of the month" compared to bothering with craigslist, ebay, or amazon to sell off the type of games I won't be replaying.

Idk. Apparently some stores are pushy with the upsells.

I like having a physical place I can go buy used games from. Found Hatsune Miku for the PS3 and was playing it that same day.

Then again I live in a suburban wasteland so maybe there are better used game stores I just dont have access too lol

People just get triggered about buying something and selling it for more

Wonder what would happen if someone told them about the stock market

The used selection is pretty much entirely Madden and shooters, and the amiibo stock is constantly just Daisy and Waluigi with random Animal Crossing guys.

Right now, Gamestop has a huge opportunity to implement a preorder program and steal the disappointed Amazon and Best Buy markets back, but they just don't want to do it apparently.

Only problem I've ever had with them was when I went to buy the 360 version of Catherine (b/c Walmart didn't have the uncensored cover, even though it wasn't risqu at all). Told the guy I'd take one of the two copies they had, and the jackass unwraps it right in front of me. I almost walked out, but this was right after they opened, so I knew if I did, by the time I made it across town to the other location, they would have opened all of theirs too.

It's a hassle to get the same thing I could get at another store.

If I want a new game I have to fend off attempts to get me to buy it used, become a member, buy the guide, etc. And sometimes they'll give you an open copy that they claim is new. Then I have to inspect it or enter a conversation about wanting a sealed copy.

They just add too much unwanted conversation and effort to get what I want.

Compare this to Best Buy where I walk in, pick up the new game I want, and pay for that game I have in my hand.

I always hated getting a "new" game, which was the display copy and then they put this horrible sticker on it that ruins the case even further. If it is opened, it is no longer new.

Idk. It's just another store to me.
I haven't been hassled by pre-order offers. Just a simple no and we move on. Also haven't had the "new" debacle happen in a long time either.

I did stop shopping there for some years simply because they would never have copies of new games on release day. Back then pre-orders were damn near a necessity with them.

My GameStop is awesome I never had any problems with it and I have been going for 15+ years when the first manager left about 3 years ago an employee turned into the new manager he had been there for 8+ years. The staff that works there are actually gamers and know a lot of gaming in general last time I visited I asked the new guy what was the name of the racing game that came out for the PS3 that was created by the Disney studio that was surprisingly good. The guy answered after 3-5 seconds I can ask them random questions like that and they can answer them. I would be surprised if anyone here can even answer that without google.
