I mean, the mental capacity of a human being, compared to the capacity of a wild animal like a cougar or a bear, pretty much shoots down your initial point to begin with.

Animals act on instinct when they feel threatened, which is known fact in the animal kingdom. You can't just talk it down, or say "it should have known better."

A human has the capacity to not assault someone else for calling them a name. An animal does not have the capacity to not protect it's territory when threatened.

I agree with the general gyst of your post, but you used some pretty bad examples. I didn't see anyone actually defending the racist, they were just ignoring what he did wrong and focusing solely on the black guys response. Maybe I missed a couple posts, but I didn't see anyone saying that the racist guy didn't do anything wrong or even that he didn't deserve what happened to him, they just ignored him completely while criticizing the black guy for resorting to violence, but they also downplayed his reasons for doing so and made his reaction seem far less understandable than it was.

But yeah a common form of hypocrisy here is how people will give cops the benefit of the doubt when they're accused of doing something wrong but civilians innocence needs to be definitively proven for them not to claim they deserved whatever happened to them. Especially if the civilian is black. No surprise. Like the dude that just got shot by a cop in his own apartment, they read a report about how there was shell casings and tactical vest in his apartment and tried to argue that proves he was a bad person up to no good cuz they didn't realize it was the property of the cop who shot him that had been left there lol. They always latch onto anything that calls he victims character into question, I think it started with trayvon.

The facts are yeah people are capable of self control and no you're not justified in physically attacking anyone that says something racist or hurtful, but it's also a fact that people are emotional, flawed beings and you have to take that into account when judging their actions because no one is perfect. That black guys reaction, while wrong, was a completely human and understandable reaction. To the point that if we see a black guy in that same exact situation that chooses to walk away instead of resorting to violence, he is commended for having outstanding self control, whereas you would say he just did what he's expected to do and it wasn't anything special.

You can expect humans to overcome their emotions 100% of the time no matter what the circstamces areif you really want to, but the fact is that you'll be disappointed most of the time because those are ridiculous expectations.

Actually race was brought Into this discussion in the OP, not by me or bok. The comparison of the man being attacked by an animal being laughed at vs the racist being attacked for inciting hatred was referring to a topic about a drink white dude who was berating this black man and eventually called him a n***** and got an ass whooping for it. So when you decided to refer to that part of the OP but replace "calling black man a n*****" with "calling someone a name" you were clearly misrepresenting the actual instance that was being referred to. Now if you just didn't know about that story and misrepresented it unintentionally, then that's clearly a miscommunication between us. But TC was referring to actual topics that were responded to hypocritically by CE, so it only makes sense that you were referring to that topic as well.

And idk why you took "you people" as meaning "you racists", that's another example of you putting words in his mouth. I saw it as him acknowledging that there were multiple people down playing the gravity of racism like you did.
