3 cities: LA, san francisco and las vegas. but also did a ton of stuff in-between like grand canyon, sonoma and napa, universal studios, etc

second time. first time was NYC and DC in 2014 which was also a great trip

on the way to LA it was 11 hours and i was restless as fuck. the flight itself was smooth but since the seats/room is tight and i couldn't sleep, i hated the whole experience

return flight to london was 9 hours which was better but that was supposed to be a night flight but i got no sleep since the flight was between 4pm-1am west coast time

What did you do in Vegas?

didn't do too much on the first day, mostly just hung out at mandalay bay by the pool and relaxed in the 35C weather

the next day we did a grand canyon tour mostly in arizona, returned to vegas and got drunk with friends, then went to a steakhouse and ate v good, and then we went to caesars palace for the night and i ended up winning $94 on the slots

vegas is great, i could spend 4 days max there. my only regret is not seeing a show. i'm not much of a gambler so just doing one night was good for me

dude it was one of the best vacations i've had. some old lady in chinatown said she loved my accent and wanted me to continue talking to her

i tried a lot of food but i'd have to say my favourite was the steak that i ate in vegas. sadly i didn't get enough time to check out more food places and we were constantly busy so it meant we just had to grab food from the best place close to us



^that was the steak with lime butter drizzled over. i also went to this fried chicken and waffle place called roscoe's which was banging. in-n-out burger was p average tbh

Damn that looks good. Everyone I know that goes to Vegas always talks about the food.

if i weren't going out that night, i would have pigged out and ordered more food. i was also drinking and wanted to keep my buzz

also i can't get over that i was technically in arizona

you know what, i did see a lot of large americans

but whenever i ordered food at restaurants, the portions were literally double the size that i expected. i could have just had starters/appetisers and it would have filled me up

i think i finished 3 mains out of my 2 weeks there

how did the napa wines stack up to european ones? when i went to napa i was talking to some danish dude who stayed at our hotel and he spent the entire conversation dumping on American wines because he had better stuff in france/germany (he was kind of a dick tho)

my favourite landscape was probably the grand canyon. i mean nothing can beat the view of this:



other than that, it'd have to be the touristy sites like seeing the 'welcome to las vegas' sign, golden gate bridge and the hollywood sign in LA because i've seen those in TV shows and films, so it's nice to see it irl

also i remember an uber driver we had from santa monica called me a "british african american friend" as a joke and we both laughed out loud. that was the best thing i heard on the trip

i'm not a wine expert but i really enjoyed the american wines at napa and sonoma. they're a few percentage stronger than european wines as well which surprised me.

overall american wines imo had a bit more depth and 'heavier' when drinking. when i had a glass, i felt it a lot more than when having a glass of european. i think euro wines are a bit more easy going on sunny days whereas i feel american works v well with meals

but like i said, i'm not really a connoisseur so i'm probably talking rubbish

i really wanted to visit yosemite but i couldn't afford it and i would have needed to spend more time in cali. but rocky mountains, yellowstone and death valley are also on my list

Yeah I had a workshop in Estes Park outside Boulder, so one day we went on a bus ride up into the Rock Mountains National Park. Super cool. That whole town is freaking neat, very dramatic mountainy landscapes in every direction. Flight to Denver is super affordable too
