no thanks.. you see how that dog reacts?

it's a far more advanced level of domestication for companionship.

though i'll admit the idea of having a pet fox is kinda cool.

Yea. I have felt that way about foxes. To me they come off like something in between a dog and a cat

Not house trained yet. The video said they jump onto the kitchen counter and poop

Obviously it's safest to shart at high altitude. (to a fox, it would feel like being in a tree)

No other animal will ever share the bond we have with dogs. I mean look at cats.

You wanna know why? Proto-dogs hung out with proto-humans. The dogs ancestor and our ancestor embarked in an evolutionary journey together, dogs became dogs and humans became humans together.

We have an evolutionary bond that no other animal has. Scientific tests have shown that humans and dogs release endorphins (or was it occitocin? I forgot) when theyre cuddling together... thats usually something that happens between parents and their children! Its deep stuff, man.

Having said that I can see foxes out-petting cats within the next 100 years

Nah. They're still pretty wild and mean. It's one of those "exotic" pets that people get obsessed over, buy and neglect after the novelty wears off.

even if cats are in it for the food/house etc. even just a cat being there and maybe getting the chance to pet the cat a few times is all i really wanted.

my time with mia the cat was great for the first 5 years.

Cats can have a bond too. If you think they can't you just haven't met the right cats. My cat loves to snuggle with me and when I come home he runs over and says hi

no, they aren't. they're domesticated like horses/cows/chicken are domesticated, they dont actively try to maul you but they'll happily shit all over the couch they just tore up.

generally its a sign of a bad owner to have a pissy cat. they're generally a bit more aloof then a dog, but they bond strongly to people that take care of them. they're pack animals, so its not a surprise they'll want to hang out with people they like.

in another 60 years, i doubt all of us will be alive due to old age. our descendants will though unless there's some sort of technology invented that extends life.
