I first played Elite Dangerous for a significant time on the PS4. I was in need of a good space game which incorporated open world elements. After a few hours of wandering around space I felt lost even after docking back in the starting area. I haven't played the game for a long time now and deleted the game from my system.

I tried to figure out why I didn't like it very much. Was it the first person perspective? It could be, but recently I got Rainbow Six Siege and I didn't feel as dizzy as I thought I would be. (Granted I've only played the game in one sitting so far, but I'm okay with playing it again.)

I guess looking back maybe the reason why I didn't appreciate Elite was more of the feeling of being lost in the game. I guess that should be expected because people said the difficulty curve of the game is steep. I'm thinking about getting back to it, but I'm still hesitant and I might not have enough space on my PS4.

I have a few questions for you:

1. Do you think I should give Elite Dangerous another chance?

2. Any other open world space games? What do you think of them?

3. A little ambitious thinking, but do you think people will make an open world space game with a wider appeal to both casual and hardcore gamers? (I do enjoy a program called Second Life which appeals to casual users and non-gamers.

It's fun, but... god, the grind for money just to get that next ship up.
And then again to get the new ship to be at least as good as the last one.

I jump back in sometimes just for the fun of flying around and doing a bit of everything, but when i see what it will take to get X ship, then realise i won't be happy until i have several different ships all fully upgraded and engineered...

Seems easier to just delete the game and find something else to play. Which is a shame really.
