Are you a fan of AMC's THE WALKING DEAD? I sure as hell hope so, because AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan recently revealed, while speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference, that the network has over a decade's worth of plans for the zombie horror saga. Some would say that Sapan's daunting comment was a direct response to assure those invested in the long-running program that, despite the show's decline in ratings, AMC has no intention of relinquishing its hold on the undead teats of their flagship series.

The Walking Dead is a universe, Kasdan reminded investors, and we have a plan to manage over the next decade, plus. That plan is a careful plan to respect the world of the fans of that world.

In addition to what Kasdan hoped would be interpreted as an encouraging sentiment, he also reminded those in attendance that THE WALKING DEAD spinoff, FEAR THE WALKING DEAD, is a part of that shared-universe, and that the program continues to do well for the network.

Interestingly enough, THE WALKING DEAD is nearing one of the show's biggest turning points yet, as both Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan are in the midst of planning their exits from the show. In essence, Season 9 of THE WALKING DEAD will serve as a reboot for the series, as new players are bound to step into the spotlight after two of its central characters shuffle down a different path.

Season 9 of THE WALKING DEAD, which will welcome a new showrunner in Angela Kang and feature a notable time jump for the series, will star Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Lennie James, Alanna Masterson, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The zombie action continues when the show returns to AMC on October 9th at 9 pm ET/PT.

Are you down for another 10 years plus of AMC's THE WALKING DEAD?

This. Losing Carl was a lethal blow on it's own, but getting rid of Rick will probably really kill the show.

they might have to do original stuff soon. cause aren't they almost caught up with the comic? and the show moves faster than the comic. last I checked, the comic is only like 1 or 2 arcs ahead of the show. I havent' read the comic in over a year though. and I am like a season and a half behind for the show.

season 24: aliens invade

that actually was a joke in the comic. not actually used but someone wrote in a letter about how eventually the story would have to inevitable introduce aliens if it goes on long enough. and then Kirkman did an april fools short comic segment where aliens suddenly show up and attack

They're about to lose the main character. Granted that episode is going to be a ratings bonanza. But they can have all the plans they want and it's not going to matter a damn because after he's gone the ratings are going to tank.

My prediction is maybe, maybe 3 seasons past the mc leaving but that's it. It'll limp on for a little while before they put it out of it's misery.

Mad Men slowly got way worse b/c a lot of principle writers up and quit at the end of season 3. Too bad b/c the change was pretty noticeable. Breaking Bad just went off a cliff in season 5.

Better Call Saul has been steady though. Helps that its not as ridiculous as B.B.
