This is like one of the few sandbox games where just traveling around and getting all the collectibles and stopping random crimes is FUN because of how immensely satisfying the web swinging and movement overall is.

Yes the combat is basically Arkham's combat, but it has a unique Spider-Man flair that makes it distinctly Spider-Man. Plus, I have no problem with them copying the combat from a game with a fantastic combo system.

Thankfully, it's pretty challenging on the highest difficulty setting, especially the brutes. Easily the best superhero game I have played, and one of the best open world games ever made. A masterpiece.

100% agreed.

Definitely on par with the Arkham series for me, but I might be biased because I love Spider-Man.

I've only fast traveled once in my whole time playing the game

Swinging around is just so much darn fun

I keep thinking the swinging will get old but it never does. I like the combat better than the Arkham games, smoother and faster with more powers to use.

Sure beats travelling by horse in Skyrim. I seriously abused the fast travel option in that game.

I'm early on and still getting the hang of the combat, but it can be pretty punishing. I think I just need to be constantly dodging or something because I'm still losing fights pretty regularly. Maybe some of the skills and upgrades will make me a bit more durable later on, we'll see.

Definitely having fun overall, haven't played a console game in years, so this has been a nice one to jump back in to. May have to check out the new God of War and/or that Horizon game, they both look good too.

Yeah, I've died a TON playing this game. Overall feels a lot more difficult than Arkham. I think a lot of that is due to more enemies having guns, so you really have to pay attention in combat to what enemies are doing.

Horizon is pretty great

God of War is next level imo. It's probably my second or third favorite game this gen (Witcher 3 being first and Spider-Man possibly being second)

Indeed. Difficulty was my main concern as it usually is for single player games. I like games to be very hard. Usually I have to place handicaps on myself to make a game challenging. Don't need to with Spiderman. Yet.

Spider-man combat should involve lots of dodging regardless. He relies on his agility and reflexes more than other superheroes, and I feel the game portrays this really well.

Also, is the voice actor the original one from the 90s TV show, because it sounds just like him.

Yeah, super fun. I haven't seen if Venom has been implied to have happened in-universe yet, but if not really interested what they could do with symbiote powers and/or playable Venom in a sequel.

Surprisingly, the black suit isn't even available as an alternate costume in the game, with Insomniac saying that the costume is too important to just be treated like a regular suit.

So in all likelihood, Venom, or at least some form of symbiote shenanigans, will go down in the sequel.

It'd be awesome if we could have a playable Agent Venom.
