Last time i checked on it, it had just 6 cores with no hyper-threading. Did they come out with a new version with the 12 thread hyper-threading?

The i7s have always had hyperthreading as far as I know. That's what makes them an i7 for the most part.

8 cores w/o Hyperthreading so they can push an i9 model(and price tag) to the "mainstream" socket(and the i9 will be 8c/16t)
