In the UK, we have "listed" buildings, which can't be demolished or altered without permission from the appropriate government department. The highest is Grade 1, which is buildings that are either very old, very beautiful, or have a lot of cultural significance. Does America have this, or (lulz) are all the buildings too new?

yeah, hell my aunt used to live in a 300 year old house that apparently legally cant be changed externally. it was apparently an absolute bitch to sell.
