It's also my first Platinum...I think.

Anyways, it's a fun game. Probably the best Spider-Man game since Spider-Man 2. I don't remember any of the other open world Spider-Man games doing the linear stages this well. (A highlight to me would be the Halloween party stage, especially the part where you have to follow the dudes outside the building, crawling around the decorations)

The web swinging is serviceable. I still feel like I had more fun and could do more stuff in Spider-Man 2, but I've come to accept that Spider-Man 2 was a fluke and we're never getting that again so as long as I don't get stalled while web swinging I'm pretty happy.

I thought the combat was fine, but I feel like a lot of people are going to harp on it for not "being deep enough" or it revolving around getting people in the air, but I feel like that's been the style of combat in Spider-Man games for a while now so it felt right to me. The inclusion of the gadgets more than made up for the actual attacking feeling like your standard Spider-Man game.

Multiple suits is always nice, especially since this isn't usually a thing in the open world games due to being movie licenses most of the time. I kind of wish they would have had a few more iconic suits (The exclusion of Ben Reily and Symbiote is really really weird, along with Superior) but people are holding out hope for DLC. I'm not, but hey, maybe we'll get them.

But yeah, it's pretty good. My only real complaints are that I don't like how after you finish all the crimes that all you get are random thug crimes (or at least it seems that way). I really liked those prisoners who had the whiplash whips. It reminded me of Spider-Man 2 where in the end game, you'd have people with Shocker gauntlets and Mech suits in random encounters. I always liked that about SM2/USM where you kind of had some semi-super powered foes to fight randomly. (USM flat out had Shocker and Boomerang appear in random crimes I think)

I also feel that the side missions are pretty weak. Other than Tombstone and Screwball of all people showing up in two of them, the rest don't feature any villains and are just your basic "go here, beat up thugs, protect person helping you." type of missions. And there aren't even that many of them at that, I think maybe like...10? I was kind of hoping this part of Arkham they would copy and you'd be dealing with more of Spider-Mans rogues in the side missions.

Oh, yeah, the stealth missions featuring ----------------Miles and MJ--------------------- I could take or leave. I didn't hate them, but I didn't really enjoy them either outside of one that featured a boss character.

I'd probably rate it 9/10, but I'm bias towards Spider-Man games so I'd see other people giving it closer to an 8 or an 8.5. I feel that a lot of people are going to let the fact that it's an exclusive skew how they rate it as well, but overall I had a lot of fun with it.

Yeah, I actually liked that you had to align the QR codes on the buildings. That was a solid mission, I didn't mean to imply that it was bad I was just surprised they would include her. In fact I wish more missions were like that, it reminded me of how Arkham City was with how the side stuff involved Batmans other villains and usually had a puzzle element or something that was really tailored to their style.

Wait, I didn't know she was an actual character. I thought she was just some crazy chick. That makes it even better lol

anyway I agree with everything you said tc, this is a good solid 8/10 game. it hit a lot of the notes to make a spidey game and if they wanted to launch more marvel games in this fashion I'd be cool with it

I agree with almost everything you said TC.

I don't like the way certain things look visually either, and I don't like the direction they took MJ.

If they wanted him to date someone from the Bugle so they could do investigations, why not go real different and use Betty Brant who hasn't been adapted yet.

Another thing that bothers me is how major events didn't happen even eight years into his career, I get they wanted to be different but ehhh.

And please don't actually do Harry Osborn as Venom

Oh yeah, I'm talking mostly gameplay here. The actual story I thought MJ was rather annoying, and the idea of Venom being Harry just makes me facepalm. If Venom is created in an attempt to cure Harry, fine. I get it, they like their Ultimate origin for whatever fucking reason, but don't make him actually be Venom when he has shown absolutely no reason to be him.

There's also the secret photos to get the ESU outfit (Spider-man mask with T-Shirt and Jeans) too.

Most are obvious stuff like murals of Vulture or any of that random stuff.

It took me roughly 30 hours. I don't know if there is an actual stat that shows playtime.

I'm still missing about 5 secret photos.
