They gave it Colleen? Guess thats why the io9 review was so positive.

Danny losing, and not wanting the Fist back was entirely contradictory to the season ending with him getting it back.

They have so much back story for Iron Fist and an amazing run by Ed Brubacker to draw from and we get this shit. After JJ season 2 I was done.

They just cant write themselves out of a paper bag. Its mind boggling. You literally have a tree of knowledge you can pick and choose from but Nooooo everything has to be like proto origin story with no costumes (barring Daredevil S2, S1 was blue balls) and only hints of things down the line.

Daredevil is ok. I will assume they will fuck up season 3. Also fuck Karen Paiges character. She literally brings all the trouble down on herself.

Punisher was also just ok but the people in charge never get what show needs more episodes and which need less. Which makes a lot of the shows have weird low points or high points with more episodes left to come.

There has to be something going on in the background of why we arent seeing big villains outside of the Kingpin or Elektra.

Iron Fist comics are awesome. He uses both fists. And kicks ass. Im with you TC. And its basiclly a budget problem. They dont want to pay for extended minutes of glowing fists.

Jesus Christ season two was awful. You know the show is bad when you think, thank god were getting back to the Ward subplot. The ending was so jump the shark bad that it killed my interest in the whole Netflix universe. Danny is literally shooting Iron Fist bullets. WTF. I know his martial arts stuff was weak but was their answer to really turn him into X-Mens Gambit?

Well Ward is a good character which is something the show needs more of.

Also the gun thing is directly taken from the comics. Theres also to reference to colleens ancestor being the pirate queen, who infused her arrows with the iron fist chi. Same comic.

The thing about Iron Fist thats very interesting to me is the lineage. Thats looking like where theyre not going to take the third season.

However, the steps they took to get there were not earned. They rushed all that into like the final episode. This season much like the first is a mess. They still have no idea what they should be doing with this character or how to utilize all the amazing bits of lore they have to choose from.

Hell they gave Davos a different colour fist and didnt call him the Steel Serpent/Phoenix. Whyyy

Ugh its just sad this character cant be as awesome on screen as he is on the page.

I liked the season overall. I disliked the very end showing Danny has his fists backs. I'm assuming the next season will show how that happened, but I'd have preferred they kept it to trailers instead of season 2.

the marvel netflix shows suck
the good stuff (DD s1 and the first half of s2, JJ s1, first half of LC, certain parts of Punisher) is the exception, not the rule

I know nothing about the Iron Fist comics and can already tell you how it happens. I found the answer while searching for pics of Danny holding the gun. This is more theory then spoiler but Ill use tags anyway... Theres an older World War 2 era Iron Fist who uses guns in the comics. He sacrifices his life to transfer his power to Danny. So nothing that epic. I guess theres comic-support for an Iron Fist using guns but it just looked so stupid. So stupid. Especially him shooting a bullet out of the air. Not sure when the Fist made him Neo.

That previous Iron Fist is Orson Randal in the comics. In the show Orson Randal is the guy they are searching for in that scene. So it's unlikely he gave Danny the fist.

defenders wasn't too bad, from what i remember

probably second favorite for me behind daredevil season 1

but overall, i've realized i'm not really a fan of the shows. i haven't seen any of the newer season 2 shows and i couldn't even get through 3 episodes of punisher. just lost interest and doesn't feel like it's worth investing time into.

I was more invested in the Ward subplot than anything else. Between his rotating double bird and his cute short term gf, he was great.

I was really hoping that not working towards a Defenders like mini series would open up these shows a lot more but I feel like they just took that as license to go as random as possible.

Also Defenders being what it was is what is wrong with these shows.

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that the writers have never read an Iron Fist comic. Or a JJ comic. Its very clear they dont know how to weave worlds together that well. And dont know the characters they are using. Im not saying you have to get things exactly like the comics but most of the heroes have had an existential crisis about being a hero in every series!

Iron Fist could easily be called anything else and it would be fine. A knock sure but the show makes it clear its Danny Rand/Iron Fist in name only. They stripped out all his confidence (the thing that actually allowed him to become the Iron Fist in the first place) and made him way to naive in both S1 and Defenders
