I'm watching a streamer player it and you basically have to do everything exactly as the game demands it. Even when it doesn't make sense.

It plays like a scripted QTE sequence in Uncharted, only the whole game plays that way, with some button mashing grunts in between scripted sequences

from what I've played, besides the tutorial, you're pretty much free to do and play how you want

but the one boss fight that I played was pretty scripted

idk, I've never played any of the batman games besides the first one's demo and I thought the combat was boring.

But an example is a sequence where there is a helicopter flying around. You can't do anything, can't attack it or interact with it even though it's right in front of you and there's bad guys in it. You have to beat a bunch of grunt first, then you have to chase the helicopter in a scripted sequence, where somehow the copter is going faster than spider man. There are a ton of sequences like this, where there are cars faster than spider man etc

and you can't interact with things until the game says you are allowed to. And Spider Man gets tossed around and becomes vulnerable etc because they gave forces you to do stupid things. There is literally no freedom of play, every grunt fight transitions to QTE nonsense

None of what I described is something I would have to play myself to see. I saw that it didn't let him interact with the helicopter, I saw all the QTE sequences.

I saw that he had to do this, then do this, then do this, because he failed when he didn't do it in order or the objects wouldn't let him interact with them until he did them in exact order

There are QTE sequences, but you really seem to be exaggerating them because theres not that many in the game and even if it does bug you theres an option to make them easier or turn them off.

Who actually enjoys QTEs anyway?

I've actually played the game and the only time it's linear are when you're in an actual story mission. Those yellow way point markers that show up on the screen? Yeah, you don't have to get to them right away. You can do anything else you want. It's not a Naughty Dog game.

It swooped down up to spider man and the streamer literally touched it, but it wouldn't let him web it or interact with it, or take it down or do anything.

Until of course the game decided, ok, spider-man is now allowed to touch the helicopter, via cutscene. Then it prompts a cut-scene where he chases the helicopter etc.

The game is kind of like, go here, interact with this, go here, do this. Basically everything is prompted. The entire environment is only intractable when it allows you to interact

like the game gives you the ok to touch the environment with QTE's like ok it's time to do this because this is how the fight goes or this is how the sequence goes.

Same with the boss fights. You just dodge until the game tells you to QTE something in the background and you can only do it when allowed or told to.

Obviously I've only seen a few of the boss fights so maybe some other ones are less scripted.

Oh, well the streamer is only playing Story missions for the sake of the stream.

So basically the meat is in the side quest and the Story missions are more about watching a movie?

I watched an entire streamer do the main story in one sitting on hard difficulty, I have to say, it's pretty bleh, like 7.5/10

Basically only two types of enemies: small and large, and boss fights aren't great

Combat is really repetitive, basically you want to stay up in the air as much as possible, and it's always the same combos over and over

The graphics and facial animation is fucking amazing and there were no fps drops at 30

The helicopter does swoop down to an area where Kingpin's guys are at that you have to protect. The thing is that every game does shit like this in one way or the other. It's a dumb complaint and comes off as really nitpicky. The game is great and I was super skeptical beforehand.

I guess so. But the game never trains you to fight or takedown helicopters. There's no reason to believe you can do anything. That's why Spider-man tried to take it down with that big weight thing. It's also not your objective until you deal with the enemies on the roof.

There's way more than two types of enemies. And there's a bunch of variation in the combat. Maybe the person you were watching was just boring. That's like watching someone play AssCreed but they just use the poison darts the whole game.

Maybe it's because the guy I'm watching is completely irrational. He keeps trying to interact with things maybe a normal player wouldn't think of. Then he complains why he can't interact with it. Then it lets him interact with it 10 seconds later.

Like he was doing a puzzle with Mary Jane and he already solved the puzzle in his head, but the game wouldn't let him interact with the staff thingy until he prompted it to be intractable, by looking at the back of the book.

In that case there would be no reason to pick up the staff as you can't place it until the statue opens its hand. He hadn't figured out the puzzle properly.
