We've had a long engagement, so the reality setting in of it being less than a year now is a little intimidating since we've been taking our damned-ass time on booking stuff lol. We have all the important things already though, so no big D.

AMA I guess?

Is that what your fiancee says?

In all seriousness, congrats and remember that you don't have to go into massive debt to have a great wedding.

Nah I picked that up from Adventure Time years ago when some character apologizes to Flame King and says "No big D, bro."

You're preaching to the choir lol. We're keeping our budget down around $7,000, which is absolutely unheard of around here.
For contrast, my brother in law got married two years ago and in him and his wife's work they "had a small wedding". Their total was around $25,000 lol.

Actually one of the reasons we've had a long engagement (over two years) is cuz we're taking the extra time to save money so we can pay everything upfront. Some of our friends got married earlier this year, and they said besides the limo and dresses, they charged everything to credit cards lololol.

Nice, good shit.
Were the both of you initially down to keep the costs cheap?

How much was the ring?

Yeah we're both thrifty AF so there was never a desire from either of us to have anything extraordinary. My number one pick for the reception was a music venue, her pick was a historical farm. We went with the farm cuz it was cheaper, and cuz it has live animals.

TBH I don't remember how much I spent on her ring. I got it on Etsy though, I feel like it was in the $700 range?

My wife and I said fuck it and only did a small dinner with a few family members for our wedding. We simply went to the district office office, got our marriage license and then did dinner. Couldn't be happier about doing doing it that way, much better things to spend thousands of dollars on.

Over the past year, around $4,000. With our savings rate, we should have more than enough in our wedding account for everything to be paid in full come next September.
Best part is based on our guest list and rich families, we stand to make a profit on the wedding, which can go towards more cool stuff like traveling or down payment on a house.
