That's the reason for blackwashing, is it not? Because black people "need representation" and won't watch something with an all white cast?

It seems racist to not watch something because there is no one of your race in it.

Personally, I enjoy a lot of kung fu movies and those have all Asian casts and I am not Asian.

I don't know but I do know that a bunch of old black ladies watched black panther. They were telling people in black churches to support the movie

There are White people who refuse to watch anything in which White people do not have prominent roles or even are the main stars. Probably more than the Black people who don't do it.

Generally the people crying over representation are not actually the demographic that is "unrepresented." It's usually just self-hating white people.

This is more an American thing rather than a black white thing in my opinion.

Americans always have to remake popular tv shows from abroad because they struggle to identify with and thus can't enjoy the originals.

Some famous recent examples of this are shameless, the office, life on mars, house of cards and there are loads more.

It's just broken down even further where white, asian, hispanic and black Americans feel like they need to be 'represented' in the shows they enjoy.

Wanting that representation in media is just an example of American privilege at it's most piss baby level.
