When the first person in line at a red light doesnt pay attention, it can cause somebody else to miss the light. People panic and get in the wrong lane and refuse to let each other over. Some people drive under the speed limit which causes road rage and makes people change lanes excessively to get around them.

If every car was self-driving, do you think that traffic would get better, worse, or stay the same.

Traffic would improve. Massively so if we had them talk to each other so that we could dispense with traffic signals entirely.

Road rage would also go way down. If nobody controls the cars, there really wouldnt be many reasons for people to get mad at each other.

There might still be a need for pedestrian signals, although the better option would be to segregate pedestrian traffic from automobile traffic. But traffic signals for the sake of cars? Those exist because we can't safely navigate crossing a stream of traffic. AIs in communication with each other don't have that limitation.

massive improvement. despite the obvious improvements like less accidents and no signaling you'd also get rid of the ghost jams caused by asshole drivers. no more rubberneckers at crashes, or assholes overtaking and jumping in front just to slam on the fucking break.
