I was browsing this morning for something for my kids to watch and saw this and immediately recognized the character. After two episodes...what the fuck? Why?

Gon is a well known manga character that had his own Snes game long before Tekken existed.
He appeared in Tekken 3 as a guest character, and he got nothing to do with Tekken outside of that.

With your logic, you should be surprised that Wario doesnt appear in Bomberman Jetters.

Is he one of the earliest examples of a guest character? I wonder who was the first.

So, uh, Xavier Woods isn't a Bomberman character?

I wouldn't really consider him a guest character since the early Gon games were made by Namco, the same creators of Tekken.

Earliest that I can remember right now has to be the first Fighter's History game by Data East, which its final boss is Karnov from the arcade game of the same name, who also appeared in later titles in the series (and also appeared as an enemy in Bad Dudes and Trio the Punch).

Unless we talk about crossovers, then Wai Wai World on the Nes is a crossover between 6 or so Konami games, including The Goonies and Castlevania.

He was the first guest star fighter in Tekken History. Now Guest Fighters are common in Namco fighters, well he was the first.

In the Japanese Famicom version of Karnov, the Abrahamic God sends out Karnov on missions.

It is either set before he met God, or he decided to abandom God.
