Horror movies are at their best when they're less trying to scare you and more being unsettling imo. That just leaves more of an impression.
Movies that actually did get to me like that are things that are more based in reality.

But with all of that said, I'm really liking this rise of good horror movies lately.

A reasonable way of confronting that fear would be draw more attention to the attitudes that enable and protect the people who commit sexual assault in this country, letting people know when they're engaging in these behaviors or trivializing rape, and talking about this with friends or family who don't understand that sexual assault is not a 'female problem' but a human problem.

I didn't know Deliverance had hillbilly rape before I watched it. Twas quite a shock.

i knew it from a Kids in the Hall sketch where Dave Foley keeps replaying the scene to his amusement and his guests shock and fear.
