fun story from the hampton roads area of virginia. candidate shaun brown, an independent who has been campaigning to run in the upcoming election for the second congressional district, has had her name ordered removed by a judge from the ballot due to fraudulent signatures and bad paperwork for her original petition to make it onto the ballot.

what makes this story truly interesting is her connection to the two other candidates.

brown originally ran as a democrat and lost during the primary, she set up to run as an independent after her loss because she claims the current democratic candidate doesn't represent her community.

to get on the ballot she was required to get two thousand (maybe its one thousand, not sure) signatures of registered voters in the area, not something easy to do for an independent candidate with little support. so as a 'show of support for the voting process', and to 'help a woman unfairly marginalized by the democratic party'; the current sitting representative, republican scott taylor, sent several of his payed staffers to help collect signatures.

it appears though that scott taylors people weren't collecting signatures but forging them. dozens of names appearing on the petitions collected by his people have signatures from dead people, people living out of state, and people who dont remember ever signing a petition.

so a judge has ordered her name removed from the ballot, not just because of the forged signatures but because she didn't even file her paperwork correctly.
