I need to get good because I basically contribute nothing every time I play and I feel like every time my team loses its my fault.

The main thing I feel like I suck at is not getting blind sided. I rarely ever see the person who kills me. I even try to position myself in places where I think this wont happen, but people are very good at finding ways to leave me exposed from my blind spots.

Im also very bad at finding and killing people. Thankfully I cant play ranked matches yet.

1. Don't rush, take your time.

2. Watch for tiny holes in the wall or where drones can see you. They might be in the room and that's how people are pinpointing where you are.

Take it slow at first. On defense pick high armor, low speed operators and stay close to the objective. On offense use your drones before going in, lean to peek through doorways and windows.

And just learn the maps however you can

Thanks, Holmes.

Oh, and are there any good characters that are better suited for beginners I usually play as the guy who can use the charges that blast through metal when on offense, and the guy who can set trip lasers in doorways when on defense.

Most important thing is to learn the maps

Take Sledge into a custom match and just break walls and floors to best visualize what is going on in a map

Nice. Sounds like a good idea.

Rook is good for beginners on defense, his gadget doesn't require any knowledge to use effectively. Thermite is good on offense

Thermite is my dude. He just makes the most amount of sense in my opinion. Surely you would want someone who can break through otherwise impenetrable barriers.

Thermite is a good attacker yes. Twitch and Thatcher are good if you need anti-gadget. Kapkan is good too. If you crouch and look down more, you can put mines lower on the door frames. Rook is a really good defender to pick up on. His armor means you are useful even if you arent good at the game yet. Hes also an anchor which is recommended for newer players.
