I mean why would you ever see it not live with the commentary every other movie line? The part of the movie that's fun is everyone dressing up and dancing and shouting at the screen while other people re-enact what's happening.

It's an excellent film.

- So strange and different
- Fun
- Often amusing
- The cast
- The audience participation phenomenon it spawned*

*People calling out things in response to dialogue and stuff that happens in the film, people acting out the film infront of the screen, wearing special outfits to viewings of the film, etc.

I had fun performing on a shadow cast for nearly ten years. However the community got real toxic and theres a lot of problems with cast leaders turning a blind eye to some fucked up shit.

Example: in our cast one of the leaders was transphobic (ironic much)

The songs are catchy, but I could never watch the movie proper. Same goes for Shock Treatment, which has better songs. I'm this way with musicals in general though.

That's the entire point. It's a send-up to campy B-movies (the opening song is even dripping with blatant references). Really, though, the movie is great, but a poor substitute for live performances. Even the worst actors can make the show super enjoyable because it's a show that actively encourages audience involvement, and since that is a relatively rarity for theater outside of experimental, off-off Broadway type of stuff (which generally lacks the quality of RH).

Do yourself a favor and go see a live Halloween performance before you really judge it, though, TC.

They should do a modern version with Death Grips composing the entire song list.
