I can already tell just playing the first map this is going to be a great game...

I'll post my thoughts as I play through the demo. I'm assuming it has either 2 or 3 maps total

just finished the demo.
that was great. They let you play two skirmishes, the starting few chapters, and give you access to the headquarters and let you upgrade everything up to a certain point.
You can replay missions as much as you want in this game, even if they are story missions.

The new Grenadier class is great too. It's basically the mortar on the tank, but more range.

Speaking of which, Tanks are finally great in this game.
In the first game they would take two actions to move once, but now they are one action just like any other unit.

Another thing I noticed that was an improvement is it looks like every unit is horrible in some way. In the first game there were literally many units with no drawbacks, making half the cast utterly pointless.

But everyone I was able to recruit had glaring drawbacks.

Also Snipers are less useless now in the sense Kai is a main character Sniper, so she grants an extra turn and probably has great abilities that will unlock later in the game like main character units did in the first game.
(as a unit though, they are just as bad as always)

Scouts are still the best units in the game, but Tanks got a nice buff, and Grenadiers have to be used for turrets and are really good for killing clusters of enemies from afar.

At one point I killed two shocktroopers hiding behind sandbags with one action of the grenadier from super far away. They are basically grenade snipers.

If anyone is on the fence on the game or doesn't know anything about the series, I thoroughly recommend this demo. It's great.

She was in the cutscenes and you could talk to her at Head Quarters. She's your superior and gives you orders.

She wasn't playable though. I'm not sure if that changes later in the game. I saw her in the bikini DLC and I saw her with a weapon in some art, so maybe later in the game she joins as a unit.

The main character units were Kaz (Shock Trooper), Kai (Sniper), Claude (Tank) and Riley (Grenadier).

Snipers were great in 2 though. IMO at least. Thanks for the heads up though gonna download it now.

Those are boobs. They jiggle in the cutscenes.

I never played 2 or 3 because I didn't have a PSP/Vita

The first mission was a tutorial to teach you the basic mechanics. If you want an idea of how the game plays, you should have played until the end of the demo imo.

The last mission was pretty long and you could actually die on it.
There were invincible heavy tanks everywhere

Ah my condolences. I never played 3 but I've played 1 and 2 and 2 was unquestionably my favorite. Didn't even know 4 was coming to the switch until this topic >.>

It's coming to all systems basically. PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One.

You can skip all the others.

It might reference the other games through easter eggs. I know one of the DLC packs has missions with the first game's cast.

But the story seems completely separate and not dependent on the other games. 4 takes place at the same time as 1 on the other side of the world.

If you want the game on switch and haven't played the others, apparently the first game is coming to switch in October and if you get 4, you'll get a discount on the first game
