The game is out in a couple of weeks and there's next to no buzz. Something about it seems like it's rushed. Maybe because of the new developer. That developer has a good track record though.

I forgot it was coming out this month until I saw that the trophy list had leaked. It's going to have trouble with some big games coming out with more buzz.

I really hope the game surprises me when it comes to reviews. But I'm expecting more Rise of the Tomb Raider which isn't necessarily bad just uninspired at this point.

Either way I'm not getting this at launch thanks to Spider-man.

Same. I ended up never even playing the second one as soon as I was told Sam isn't in it.

Especially since Jonas, who I do love, always liked him, seemed to have the role Sam should've had.

Wasn't Jonas an explorer while Sam was more of a civilian? Jonas in Rise is up climbing these hard mountains covered in a blizzard with her. I don't think Sam would be up for that.

It has been a long time since I played the 2013 game though. I thought the plot and characters of that game stunk in general so I wasn't too bothered. I barely remember anything from it.

Absolutely. The marketing for it has been virtually non-existent. And I'm sure SE expects it to sell like 5 million copies.

hmm just looked it up and apparently there was a comic book story set after the first game thatSam is in and various stuff happens to her. They just didn't feel like showing it in the games

I think Rise was a much better game with how they spread apart the puzzles and exploration. It didn't feel like it was constant combat like 2013. So if Shadow is more of the same I will like it at the very least.

But I really hope they improve the tombs even further. There's potential there. I think they've got the combat pretty nailed down at this point.

I meant more of like the companion role. I don't think Lara knew anyone on the Endurance except for Roth and Sam. And while they did go through hell together-ish, I'm not convinced that she'd call up Jonas over her best friend.

it's gonna be a fairly safe and formulaic game that's gonna sell alright, and that most sensible people will just pick up when it's on sale

I think Jonas was in Rise more for his skills than being a friend. It was a much riskier place to get to.

I remember someone posted this on the 360 reboot board (I know I'm paraphrasing, but this is pretty close):
