Cashier charges you less than it is supposed to be. Do you give the right amount anyway?

I ask them if they are sure because that doesn't seem right. Then I pay the right corrected amount.

I mean I'd just assume it was a sale I'm unaware of and not question it, unless it's unreasonably lower.

Usually wouldn't notice it until after I'm gone, if I check the receipt once I get home, unless I buy a single item.

If you noticed something is off, there's no reason to give them a hard time. And I'm certain those particular cases are noticeable to you. Otherwise, both parties are typically on autopilot, charging and paying whatever comes up.

If I am being undercharged I correct them as I have on multiple occasions. If I am being overcharged I will tell them depending on the line. If the system doesnt have the discount applied im not gonna waste other peoples time over a dollar or so. If its more obviously I will tell them.

How would I know it's incorrect? I would just assume there's a sale or something and be happy about it. If it's a bumbling mom n pop shop I might double check.

They wouldn't get short in their drawer if the item scans at a lower price. That's not how it works. If the item scans at $5 instead of $10, they won't be short $5 at the end of the day. They'll be even, since it scanned at that price. If the item scans at $10 and they give you the wrong ammount then yeah the cashier fucked up and they'll be short.

I thought it was off but didn't say anything...but 10 seconds later when I walked away, I realized it was about $13 last time. I kept walking and thought it would make for a good CE topic, then pulled out my phone.

Honestly, depends on the price difference. If it's a buck or two, I probably wouldn't even bring it up, assuming there is a sale on something, or that I did the head math wrong before going to the register. If it's $5+, then yea, I'd ask them if they got everything. Happened a few months ago, and turned out the cashier forgot to ring up the cat litter on the bottom part of my cart.

I just assume it's an unmarked clearance item, which happens seriously all the time. Plus they have literally billions, a couple bucks means nothing.

You may be right, but that's their problem now. Our part of the transaction is over and the next customer might not be in a forgiving mood as I was at the time.
