It can be a district, or a specific road or estate. Every town or city seems to have one, that has a "reputation", and people who come from there are criminal / violent / low-achievers / want something for nothing (the last one is especially annoying, at least to me).

Perhaps villages don't have one. But I don't know. I've never lived in a village. :O

That does sound sketchy. Part due to "side", but in my country, the North (of the country) is associated with poverty, and...failure.

That's not a proper name, it's just what people say about a bad place. :(

Downtown then? People use both names.. It's pretty much the oldest part of the city so rent is cheaper, and all the trouble makers live in that area since it's cheap. Most of the clubs are there as well.

If you get directions to these streets, just don't bother.

The rough area of Glasgow is... Glasgow. :P

Seriously though, there are a few. The Calton (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calton,_Glasgow#Social_problems), Govan (see Rab C Nesbitt for a more humorous take), Springburn (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springburn#Social_problems), Easterhouse (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easterhouse), etc. Areas like Arden and Castlemilk had a reputation, but don't seem to be as bad now (although they still probably count).

Just came across this article too: https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow-news/glasgow-found-10-most-deprived-14886404

In terms of violent crime, there's been a massive improvement in recent years at least: https://www.scotsman.com/news/politics/met-police-urged-to-emulate-glasgow-in-reducing-knife-crime-deaths-1-4719546 There's still a lot of deprivation though.

Kansas City.

The city itself is fine as long as you don't go into those areas. We have the one of the highest murder per capita rates in the country, but it's almost all gang on gang violence in those specific areas

Lol, nope. There's also Antelope, Natomas, and Stockton, as far as bad areas go in the surrounding valley. Placerville too, mostly.

Citrus Heights, Antelope, and Natomas are not the bad areas in Sacramento. They're average at worst.

lmfao TRUE

CEmen probably think clubs are like drug-fueled insane raves and people die all the time on those streets

lmfao bar-districts are probably one of the SAFER parts of cities if anything, at least in my experience
