It was me, my parents, and my older sister. Mother had prepared chicken casserole that night. Conversations were rather light. I kept looking at my sister, noticing how much weight she had lost recently. "Can you please pass the salt?", my sister asked to our father. He didn't react. "Honey, your daughter asked you a question", mother said. After he finished chewing, he responded "I don't take orders from baby killers" and went back to his meal. After that, the only noise you could hear in the dining room was the occasional clanking of silverware on plates.
