LIke in hindsight

I was with this girl for almost 2.5 years, it was kinda long distance, she abruptly ended it.

I wouldn't admit it to myself but I was unhappy, and looking back I know that its for the best that it ended.

I mean I wasnt happy when we first broke up, but the last ex I had was legit crazy. Took like a week but after hearing she cheated on me the night before she broke up with me and then tried to lie about it, I was pretty happy to be done with her after stepping back.

That girl it was stupid. We were great but it went long distance if we had kept it together I still think we'd be married.

I've had many relationships but only one serious one. We couldn't be apart. Then slowly over time we got distant, and she started to only talk to other guys. I got suspicious and I was right. We broke up but she still wanted to do everything together. It took A LOT for me not to assault her boyfriend. I could only do it once and I had to just cut ties because it was allllllllllll around for the better.

She cheated on me and in an uncharacteristic moment of hurt I told her that I thought she took me for granted and would realize this as she started dating other guys and regret it, but that I would no longer be there when she did. It seemed like she thought every guy would treat her the way I did, but I knew that wasn't true and was tired of selling myself short.

Maybe a year after we broke up we talked online and she said I was right. The other guys she was with after me had all treated her very poorly. I really wasn't happy to hear that since I think if you ever love someone it's very hard to stop, but by that time I was already with my girlfriend who I've now been with for 8 years. We've only spoke once since then, after I found a little paper flower she made for me in my old jacket, which I found when I was with my girlfriend. It had been a while and it made me think of her, so I sent her an email asking how she was doing, if everything was ok, etc. We only sent a few emails back and forth but it was very cathartic. I forgave her and told her I would always remember our days in the park, and we both said we would be there if the other ever needed an ear, though we've never spoken since and probably never will.

Long story short, it didn't take very long. Once she cheated I didn't miss a beat because I still knew what it was that I wanted in a relationship and wasn't going to let that go. The stars aligned and I met the love of my life a few days later. Love without compromises is only possible if you don't accept compromises.
