I just want to add that I really liked FFXV even though it was brutally obvious that it wasn't finished.

I will also agree with this. FFXV was great and I completed most of it and loved it.

Might pick this up, I enjoyed 8 on the PS2, it was gorgeous and a relaxing experience. Random Encounters made the mid/late game dungeons a bit of a slog from what I recall (not in terms of difficulty but just the disjointed nature of exploring and being interrupted constantly).

Looks like they addressed that by having the enemies appear on the map and letting you avoid or engage.

Lack of orchestral soundtrack is a bit disappointing. It was cool in 8 when you hopped on the ship and that orchestra swelled to life.

Or, you know, one of those Kemco RPGs everyone seems to hate on for no real reason.

I think there's a place for both traditional JRPGs and modern ones. I love both, myself. I enjoyed FFXIII, really liked its combat, love FFXV, but I also love FFX, Dragon Quest, SMT/Persona. With traditional vs modern, one isn't objectively better than the other.

While I hate that companies think they are allowed to release unfinished games and find complete them later I am happy that they actually do complete the games later. At least Square did with FFXV.

i'll take the classic JRPG style of DQ over the utter garbage that final fantasy has been for well over a decade

DQ games are charming as fuck, but i am worried about the music, no orchestration is lame and even some of the compositions just don't sound good

I can't stress enough how sorely disappointed I am with the music in this game. And yet everything else about it looks so, so good. I was honestly on the fence about playing it until the reviews started dropping... I'm gonna have to suck it up and hope my ears adjust, I guess, because I just can't stay away from this game.

I don't often buy games on release these days but I'll be getting this one.

Most of my gaming over the past few years has been replaying all my PS1/PS2 rpgs cuz I'm just not that interested in modern games.
