Poll of the Day > Guys/Gals, I had maggots on my floor. Fucking maggots. I can't stop squirming.

I was cleaning up around my apartment, in my kitchen no less, and I pick up a bag of pretty old potatoes. When I gingerly lift up the bag, this dark brown sludge drips out of the bottom of it. After putting the bag into the trash can, I go to clean up sludge and notice that it's moving.

My chemistry background leads me to think up what type of chemical reactions could be occurring for this to happen, and I look around in the pantry (which is where the potatoes where kept), and can't think of what could cause the movement.

I decide not to care, and wipe up the first layer, then I look down and see a bunch of maggots crawling around. Gross

It took me like 10-15 minutes to muster up the stomach to clean that shit up. It was gross.

I can feel them crawling on me....

They're just creepy, and I was surprised by them. I haven't seen a maggot in like 20+ years.

Maggot's aren't too bad. You can see them outside. I don't mind them as mush as other bugs. they're gross, but harmless. And if they aren't that close to your house, they won't make it in...in that form, at least... Anyway, they should be easy to get rid of. And if you use enough paper towels or whatever, you probably won't even feel them wriggling...

The exact same thing happened to me about a month ago. We keep a teeny tiny food waste recycling bin in the kitchen which we empty into a larger recycle bin once full.

Problem is we keep the bitch by the window, so unfortunately if we leave the lid open flies are free to lay eggs in it. One morning I go to lift it up to wipe down behind it and this solid clump just thuds to the floor. This solid clump was nothing less than a shitload of maggots bunched together.

Theyd been chilling all night and I started to see them on the window sill, behind the dishwasher etc. Im squeamish as fuck so I just got my dad to deal with it.

I just swept up the last few stragglers

Same thing happened to me. In my room. I was finding them days later. Then they turned into 30 flies.

I got them out of my house by shutting all the lights off and opening the door, I had a lamp sitting outside and they all swarmed to it.

They're disgusting as maggots, annoying as flies.

They're just maggots, if you think them alone is gross god forbid you never see a corpse over a few hours old.

I once picked up a garbage bag in my garage and found a bunch of maggots under it. And then a ton of ants came out of nowhere and dragged those suckers away. It was awesome.
