Trash talking is fun to do as a sports fan and a competitor. If I trash talk my friend's team I expect him to trash talk me back. It's a good way to blow off steam without it being too serious and even becomes hilarious at certain times. The problem is when someone takes it too seriously and goes too far with retaliation (this incident being an extreme example). Stuff like this makes me hesitant to trash talk in bars with fans of other teams.
