I find it funny that in refering to an "alpha male" in human terms, it's a showboating dude, while in purely animalistic terms, it is someone the complete opposite that walks softly, at the back of the pack, yet carries a big stick.

Even closely related species are too different for the comparison to be valid. That's what he should have said. By instead countering with "actually, bonobos are matriarchal" he implies that that's valid evidence to suggest humans are matriarchal.

That was the point. If the argument is "well monkeys have alphas and they are our closest relatives" then the argument isn't very good.

You're basing your beliefs on an idea that has no evidence supporting it then. The alpha male behavior was based on wolves. If wolves don't show that behavior and you don't know of any other animals that show that behavior, why would you ever believe in the alpha male system???
