I use the search bar, but I preferred it at the bottom of the page. The amount of times I need the search bar are pretty small, though, so having it at the top is just a distraction and wastes space.

While I agree perhaps it'll actually make some folk use it rather than creating multiple topics. I doubt it'll make much difference though.
