You seem to have an issue with sexual harassers getting exposed and are using one womans stupid comment and another's horrible action to discredit the entire thing. Why?

because

demonizing people without legal evidence.

Who? Name me people who were innocent and denied all charges that have been demonized

Aziz Ansari?

Still touring and has his show coming back. People never demonized him once they read the story. Next example?

What's funny about using him as an example is that his situation is probably one of the best examples of people on both sides of the conservative/liberal coin agreed that the accusations against were ultimately without (legal) merit.

Also keep in mind that the accuser had text messages and Aziz admitted to what happened so there was evidence there, it's just that most people didn't think that it amounted to rape.

The problem with MeToo is that there are accusations w/o evidence. We all know this happen in history before, and we all know it's a scary thing.

Who?

Literally everybody who was accused solely over social media. I'm not just talking about those who were innocent.

We have an established legal system for a reason. If you want someone punished for sexually assaulting you, you bring charges and prove it. Trying to destroy someone's life and career based on hearsay and public opinion is not due process.

Oh, and another example is Danny Masterson. Netflix fired him from The Ranch after four women accused him of rape, even though he was never charged with anything.

The main problem with #MeToo is that most people thought it was about condemning people and rooting out all offenders, instead of just condemning actions. And people dealt in absolutes like "believe women always." Extremism like this going to collapse. There are at least two sides to every story, even when all sides are telling the truth.

The Aziz Ansari case crippled #MeToo, and Chris Hardwick dealt the killing blow. The Aziz case should have been an eye opener, showing that normal people can overstep without realizing it. But people just got confused deciding whether or not Aziz should have a career. And Chris Hardwick showed that dealing in absolutes does not work.

Social media culture is so toxic in that judging others is encouraged, and forgiveness is frowned upon. I hope this turns around.

While that would be ideal, we've known for a long time now that actual victims of such crimes take a long time to say anything because of fear and psychological damage. The longer someone waits, the harder it is to collect evidence. The me too movement is something that should encourage victims to be strong enough to come out with it as soon as possible, but people who work those cases know there are a large number of victims for various reasons stay quiet so they have to listen to all of the claims
