Soundgardan's solid, but they really only have a small handful of songs that really made a dent in the genre, while Pearl Jam has a ton. Honestly ,Ten is an almost perfect album. Vs. and Vitalogy are right up there as well. admittedly, after Vitalogy they get a little more hit or miss, but there's still some gold sprinkled across their later albums as well. He was able to write in mood and feeling without ever crossing over into cliche or trying too hard. His writing was relatable, poetic without ever feeling obscure.
