When they released those gba marios I played super mario advance (smb 2) and super mario world as well as smw 2: yoshi's island. Loved all 3, but missed out on super mario advance 4, the port for super mario bros 3.

Is there an updated version? Is the gba version easier than the original? I tried playing the original nes version on virtual console and just wasn't feeling it. Is the gba port the best version, or is there a newer one to get. And if so which console (never bothered with 3ds, but eyeing switch more and more)

NES has the most bragging rights. Super Mario All Stars allows you to save.

I think the original nes is the best, but i do also like the all stars version. There is something about the orginal though that just feels right

The GBA port is the best version in terms of levels - if you have a save file with the e-Reader levels on it (though you need two for all of the levels, 1 can hold only 35), you're pretty golden.

In terms of the sheer aesthetics like sound and graphics, SNES is the best though.

The GBA port is also on Wii U Virtual Console with the main 30 e-Reader levels on it for all regions. (Some of the levels weren't released in all regions. Some levels also aren't included but were released for the GBA port for promo purposes.)

Interesting. Is the wii u something that's also on the switch? Since that's the console I'm getting. Got the wii 10 years ago and now the switch seems to have the same games that I liked, so getting it soon.

I believe the jumping physics are a bit wonky for the SNES All-Stars version. Not sure if the GBA version fixed that up.

Never played the GBA version but the physics were definitely fucked with on the All Stars version.

I'm mostly just going by what's here, I don't really know anything about the Switch and VC myself.
