The titles of all of them always have Capcom last. Shouldn't it be the "Versus Capcom" series?

Yeah, you're not really selling the Capcom part of the game so much as you are the other part.

Because that's typically how crossover stuff works in Japan.

Example: in Super Sentai, it's team Vs. team, even though they always work together against a threat.

This isn't about the word "Vs."; it's about calling the games as a whole "Capcom Vs." when the majority of the titles actually go "Vs. Capcom".

That's normally the case, yeah, though SNK Vs. Capcom and Capcom Vs. SNK seem to be an exception where the opposite happened. Not only did the home team get top billing, they swapped the order around when they moved to the other team's house.

Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter are also exceptions, and swapping the names around in the same way.
