Not necessarily plot points, but basically anything that you thought might have a possibility of happening by the time you beat the game, but it kind of never came up. I mean, within reason of course, and not stuff where the developer was clearly keeping it vague on purpose.

For example: In Ocarina of Time I was always disappointed that Zora's Domain doesn't ever unfreeze when you're adult Link. And in Majora's Mask I was hoping we'd see what Kafei is supposed to look like normally, but that didn't happen.

I probably have more but can't think of them right now

Yes. And kinda. One thing I hate is when you have the option of completing the game but it's treated as a separate mission you can't return from, instead of just allowing at least some changes into the game.

Uh, what do you mean by this? Not sure I follow. Are you talking about games where you get to a certain point late in the game and you're no longer able to go back and explore the rest of the game, or games where you beat it but if you reload your save afterwards it treats it like you haven't beaten it yet?

In Fallout New Vegas, if you get paladin Hardin to become the leader then why the hell does he not keep his word and assist you at Hoover Dam? That is the appropriate time to make a bold statement, and Hardin with his comb-over wants the BoS to return to glory. There's going to be a decisive battle and he just wants to send out patrols? Helping him was fucking useless, get a toupee.

Tales of Symphonia had the Palmacosta Lighthouse, where you're conspicuously barred from entering because "a bunch of people have fallen ill after entering" or something like that. Sounds like a hook for a future sidequest!

...except, you literally never go in the lighthouse and the game never mentions it again. Turns out it was a sidequest that was never finished, but they didn't bother to remove the NPC who alludes to it.

It also annoyed me when tracks for other dummied out content remain in the game's sound test, because it made me feel like I hadn't unlocked something yet (this practice seems less common these days). For instance, Sonic 2 had the Hidden Palace Zone music still in the sound test, Diddy Kong Racing had a random track that never played in the game, and Super Smash Bros. Melee had voice clips for Master Hand, Crazy Hand, and Giga Bowser that made it sound like they were unlockable or playable.

Xenogears definitely ended up getting rushed out at the end (in a way rather unthinkable for a modern game, really).

Final Fantasy 7 was actually similar, and had corporate meddling to boot. Tifa was added near the very end of development, and a character who leaves the party in the final version has a large number of unique lines after the point they leave the party, if you used a code device to add them back in.

I'm pretty sure that the final dungeon of FF7 was not actually supposed to be the final dungeon originally, or at the very least, was not originally planned to be gone to at the point you do so (You basically go there as the next plot location right after there is a plot-wise 7 day "countdown" to the bad stuff happening, and yet upon finishing the dungeon you are on the day of the bad stuff happening). The airship itself suggests this too, as it undergoes two transformations in such a short time (this struck me as weird because designers normally would spread this sort of thing out more).

.

While it doesn't really count as "unsolved," executive meddling can be annoying too. Phoenix Wright comes to mind especially. In one of the games (Apollo Justice spoilers), there is an ex-defense attorney who is a piano player. This character was NOT originally supposed to be Phoenix Wright. Rather, they changed him into Phoenix as a strategy to draw fans in, but did this very late in the games' story development. Which frankly wound up giving us a character that many people don't like acknowledging is actually Phoenix.

This. There is literally a chapter missing.

And the missing chapter is supposed to tell us what happens. All we really have though are a couple of cutscenes that were already made and a bunch of concept art.

I'm not sure how that first one is really a big deal considering they do that shit in every game they make. Also it was explained in the game that the college had protection spells surrounding it.

Where did you hear this info? I've never heard that this was a case of executive meddling nor that Nick's inclusion was a late decision. The only executive meddling that I can find evidence of was the insistence that a fourth title be developed at all, with the decision to include Nick being made due to requests from several colleagues, and especially no mention that the first case of the game was originally written without Nick in mind.

No sense of closure with the Sole Survivors spouse in Fallout 4, or the rest of the people you knew in Vault 111. Wouldve been nice to be able to bury them instead of leave them in the freezer for who knows how long.

Still kind of surprised those antibiotics in The Last of Us still worked and got rid of Joels infection.

Sort of surprised that after The Big Score and Option C in GTA V, the three protagonists are just left alone. Im sure its just Lesters actions that prevented this, but it still seems like a copout.

(Spoilers for all three)

To be fair, he's only really revealed to be the ultimate antagonist at the very end of TLA, and DD was 100% sequel bait that was blatantly setting him up to be the main boss of #4. Had a fourth one ever come out, he'd definitely end up as the principal antagonist there. Where it didn't, no such luck.

Speaking of which, though, the lack of a GS4 bugs me. Dark Dawn wasn't the best, by any means, but I really would have liked to see that story resolved. Alas, no such luck.

Not unresolved, but I always thought it to be poetic that you cannot obtain the "G" in the last level of DKC3, the last game in the classic series.

For those who haven't played, you can collect the letters in "KONG" to get a 1-Up, and there's a set of them per level that are only used for that level and they reset each time you enter it.

Well yeah, the sky shattered, and a giant mass of doom loomed overhead, but the world got over that! Yuri's going around murdering all willy nilly, and Flynn is all like "yo yuri stop killing everyone" and Yuri is all like "no u" and then nothing happens. Every other plot point was tied up fairly well (although everyone is still shocked that Flynn actually came)

It's the one thing that bugs me most about the game. They were doing a big thing about vigilante justice vs following the law, and how Yuri was murdering because the law was letting people get away with it, but Flynn wanted to change those laws... It brought up some really valid points.

The newer Pokemon games all feel completely half assed.

At first, I thought it was me getting older, but then I came to my senses and realized that nostalgia was not the sole determining factor-- it's the development team.

Example: what the fuck is Zygarde's purpose? They stuck him in a cave in Gen VI and made him a dog/transformer in Gen VII. No backstory in the game whatsoever, and I stopped watching the show nearly 20 years ago. I WANT to keep loving the games, but they need to step it up.

I feel like he was going to be the main character of Pokemon Z, which never happened. There was an Anime series that focused more on Zygarde though. I feel they dropped the ball with this too.
