It's been about 17 months. Plenty of time for the Switch to establish itself.

What do you think?

This summer was huge for it. For the longest time it was just Mario and BotW, then stuff like XBC2 and Splatoon came out, along with some other party games like Mario Kart, and now this summer it got loads of good stuff like Octopath and YS and more to come like Smash and hopefully gen 8 of Pokemon

I think it's pretty good.

It's about to be even better when Smash comes out.

Meh.
While the few good games on it are excellent, there isn't much else that's without a low budget indie feel.

Kinda disappointing to be honest.

Games like Octopath Traveler could have been so much better if some effort was put into writing an interesting and cohesive storyline.

Instead its a bunch of badly written subplots that are disconnected from each other.

Good excuse for a sequel. It was a good enough game on its own, and now they can improve the formula

I only just bought it, so I only have one game. Xenoblade 2 is great, so far (150+ hours), and it seems like the system has a promising chance of having some nice RPG titles.

My favorite games are RPGs and strategy games, so while thats typically my priority, I would also like to get some platform games. I felt like the 3DS kind of halfassed that genera. My only issue is that I dont want to pay $60 for them, and preowned games are basically the same price as the new ones. Im fine paying $60 for a game like Xenoblade that is extremely long, though.

I mean honestly the story was my only real complaint. I got 65+ hours of fun gameplay from it, I think that's well worth the price.

Yeah XBC2 is easily 100+ hours though so those two games alone can get you from now to Smash (or close to)

Weakest console unless you feel like limiting yourself to 5-6 games. Don't get me wrong, they're excellent but damn the must haves are sparse.

And I will forever maintain that xenoblade is a chore to play.

Switch's Zelda game is the longest ever. Its Mario game is the longest ever. Smash is due out soon and is ludicrously packed with content. Octopath looks unassuming, yet is 100+ hours long. The Switch can easily devour your free time.

if you only look at console exclusives (not multi-plats or remakes) it's pretty bare bones tbqh, and i say this as someone who bought a Switch over the weekend.

Mario, Xenoblade and Octopath sold me on the system, since I knew I'd get one eventually.

OT was made by the same devs of FFVI.
There is simply no excuse for how bad the storyline and actual game content is.
No true exploration, just go tc into dungeons that look near all the same, open chests come back out.
Huge bodies of water with ships sailing etc that are just on the map for show.

Certainly not worth $60 to me.

Which is fine, it's not everyone's cup of tea, I'm not making anyone like it. I'm just giving it my honest take.

That said, price is irrelevant to this conversation because it's about the "library." Included in the library is a 65+ hour classic RPG that's certainly missing some things, but still gets you a good chunk of enjoyable playtime.

I'm expressing that the library is decent in size but consisting of too many games with low budget indie feel like OT.

Because so many of Switch games are like that, I'm disappointed in the library.
