I get sex and I understand chromosomes (for mating reasons and physical distinctions and capabilities), but why do we put so much importance into gender as a descriptor for human beings.

Its not even defined in any meaningful way.
This gender behaves this way, except you can behave this way and still not be this gender. Its not even a description of behavior or interests. Its not really a description of anything.

Making a grouping or a category where there are no actual qualities that determine if someone or something is in said category defeats the purpose if the grouping/category.

There are other huge problems I find with gender, but maybe Ill post it after I wake up.

I dont like how Gender, Sex, and Chromosomes have shared terms. It makes language vague and it leads to a lot of manipulation.

A woman (sex) and a woman (XX) and a woman (gender) are all vastly differently things and arent even related at this point.
Having one word describe three vastly unrelated things is moronic and causes confusion with every day issues.

An example is womens sports.
The whole point of womens sports was about the physical advantages XY people have over XX. It never had to do with whether or not you like pink, when it comes to sports, people are only making a comment and a distinction on the physical advantages certain groups have over others

And in terms of sex, some people say, oh Im attracted to men or oh Im attracted to women, a lot of people could care less about identity. They care about sex parts and for some, mating. Most men wouldnt give a shit if Kate Upton said she indentified as a man, they arent valuing gender identity when it comes to sex.
Charlie Sheen for example banged an XX pornstar with a vagina who identified as a male. But he would still probably say he is only attracted to women despite having sex with a male gendered person. Because when he is sayig woman he isnt commenting in gender.

there needs to be seperate terms so people know what people are saying

Gonna be honest, I rolled my eyes at the topic title thinking "so what? who gives a fuck what you think?"

The stuff in your post is not nearly what I expected, but I feel like it misses some of the necessary considerations/points. Gender is about societal roles moreso than genetics. I do agree that changing the terminology there would be more beneficial, but because it's a cultural/societal thing, the lexicon is a lot harder to change since the idea is what people have a hard time grasping.

That said, I think the cis and trans terminology does a good enough job of it as it's a mix of the scientific and cultural lexicon.

Maybe in America.

We don't have these issues in Europe. Men are men and women are women. Some people are transgendered. We all have our birth genders in our personal IDs.

To communicate that the car is red instead of just simply a car.

Why people get caught up on gender. People are social creatures and like their adjetives. Now whether or not you care about people being not gay or something? People like what they like
