Canada was just named the TOP location for filming for US movies and TV shows according to a data released by FILM.LA!!

The nonprofit organization has been tracking and reporting feature films that are made every year that Canada tops the list.

Most of them were filmed in British Columbia and Ontario while Quebec and Manitoba were the next popular locations.

Popular film franchises continue to film in the North including Deadpool, IT, X-Men, Final Destination and Predator

Disney Channel Original Movies, Hallmark and Lifetime still film many of their tv movies in the great white north as Netflix and Facebook tv productions are setting up shop up north as well.

But TV production is also popular there where the majority of CW shows are filmed there including Supergirl, The Flash and Arrow but also The Good Doctor, Van Helsing, Supernatural and Altered Carbon.

Many upcoming films and tv shows are also filming there such as Sonic the Hedgehog, The Twilight Zone Reboot, Child's Play Reboot, Deadly Class, Welcome to Marwen, Star Trek Discovery and Suits

It lists various reasons why Canada remains a popular location despite Trump's tax cuts but one stands out as the sole reason that states like California, New York and Georgia can't compete with despite efforts to keep production local.

Canada has reaped a massive 8 BILLION last year and brought in thousands of jobs because of it

Can you guess what the answer is? let's see if people will get it right

It's because of tax credits. I'm a film student and a big part of location studying has to do with film credits.

Georgia and Ohio are basically the #1 places to shoot in America right now next to Hollywood. A bunch of other states used to roll in dough by giving tax incentives but then a lot of them were taken over by Republicans who, and I'm not kidding, cut the tax incentives off even though the average budget was $20M~ and generated hundreds of millions, even billions of dollars worth of revenue and created hundreds if not thousands of jobs for the people of the state, in an effort to, and I want to say once again I am 100% serious, "own those Hollywood libs". Oddly enough Georgia is incredibly conservative yet they don't cut the tax credits, probably because they see how much money they make.

It's surprising sometimes seeing the things coming out of Canada. Back in the '90s, the X-Files was the big thing being filmed out in B.C.. Now there's a lot more big name stuff. Heck, one of my old Drama/Theatre classmates is in SFX in the B.C. film industry.

The Handmaid's Tale, The Expanse, and Arrow are 3 big ones going on now that are Canadian made. Fargo is shot here in Alberta.

The X-Men stuff is old news, I recognized Hatley
